Return to Play- Phase 1.

JIYSC is pleased to announce “Return to Play- Phase 1.” With guidance from the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association, Return to Play- Phase 1 may commence as early as June 1, 2020.

Phase 1 is the start of a multi-phased approach to resuming activity. We understand that everyone will be excited to come together and train, however, it is imperative that all coaches, players, and families adhere to the guidelines of each phase. The timing and progression through the phases of the Return to Play plan will be determined by JIYSC leadership in conjunction with current data available, healthcare guidelines, recommendations of the soccer sanctioning bodies, as well as state and local government officials. Please read the following very carefully to ensure understanding of how return to play will unfold.

Phase1 allows for individual training with no more than 10 players on each half of a full sized field (11v11). This means that some players may train on a field with players who may not be on their regular season team. However, because the sessions will be focused on individual drills, it should not be a factor. Games, scrimmages, friendlies, tournaments and jamborees are NOT allowed. Goalkeeper training is limited to the use of feet only-no hands will be used by any players in Phase 1.

JIYSC coaches will conduct four 45 minute technical training sessions over a two week period. Please know that these sessions are entirely voluntary. These training sessions will look a bit different from our usual training sessions. Physical contact is not allowed during phase 1. Your player will be assigned a field location for their training session. Parents will drop off their player(s) and are to remain in their car for the duration of the training session. Parents are not to congregate. If a parent needs to leave their vehicle for any reason, they will need to wear a face covering or mask and follow social distancing guidelines. There will be parent volunteers stationed at the health screening check in stations. Each child will undergo a brief health screening and will be asked to use hand sanitizer which will be provided to them. They will then be directed to their side of the field and will place their equipment at a designated cone. This cone will serve as their break area where they will need to go to drink water, rest, etc. Players are required to bring their own ball and water bottle. Please have your player use the bathroom prior to their training station as the bathrooms will be locked. There will be a port-a-potty available for emergencies and players will be asked to return to the check in table for additional hand sanitizer, after using the bathroom.

If a player is diagnosed with COVID-19 or resides with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, the player is required to quarantine for 14 days. It is recommended that a player diagnosed with COVID-19 or residing with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 share this information with the coach so that contact tracing may be used to limit further transmission.

Looking ahead, JIYSC anticipates tryouts will begin Monday, June 15th. Please register your player for tryouts using the link, if you have not already registered.

JIYSC also anticipates summer camps starting in July. Dates tentatively set for the weeks of July 6, 13, 20, and 27. Please be on the lookout for future emails with camp details.

Please understand we are forging through uncharted territory and the plans for return to play may change in the future as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve.

We thank you for your support and patience. JIYSC Board

Return to Play Protocol-Phase 1
-Parents are asked to drop their player off at the designated field. Please park in the parking lots

adjacent to your assigned field. Please remain in your car. If a player requires supervision to get to and from the assigned field, parents will wear a cloth face covering or mask and ensure social distancing is followed.
-Players will report to the designated field entrance for check in and brief health screen. Cones will be placed to mark where each player should stand while waiting for their turn at check in.

-Please note, any player with a temperature at or above 100.4 or with a positive health screen, will not be permitted to train.
-Following the health screen, each player will be assigned a cone on their respective field, which will serve as their break area. Players may place their bag, water bottle in that area and will return to that area for any designated break times. Players should not touch the cones.

-There will be one designated entrance and two designated exits at each field
-Each training session will be staggered to limit the amount of people arriving and leaving the facility at the same time.
-Training sessions will consist of individual technical and fitness exercise only. This will allow players to remain six feet apart for the duration of the session
-Training pinnies will not be used
-There will be no team huddles

Please review the attached field layout with your player to ensure they understand entrance and exit locations.
